ARRI TRINITY 2

Imagine the impossible

Elegantly combining mechanical and electronic stabilization, the hybrid ARRI TRINITY 2 sets a new high standard for body-mounted stabilization with seemingly impossible camera moves. Second-generation benefits include enhanced monitoring, rigging, and LBUS connectivity, as well as powerful control interfaces and easy on-the-fly adjustments.

ARRI Trinity 2 Developers Receive Scientific & Engineering Award®

FoMaSystems-Team-with-Oscar-2025

We are proud to announce that our Co-Managing Director and Chief Engineer Dr.-Ing. Roman Foltyn and Curt Schaller, have been honored with the Scientific and Engineering Award® for the ARRI TRINITY 2 System.

Together with the FoMaSystems Team, Dr. Roman Foltyn developed the TRINITY 2 Stabilized Head, as well as its electronics and software. Curt Schaller laid the successful foundation for the ARRI TRINITY 2 System with the ARRI Artemis and his idea for the TRINITY concept. However, our special thanks go to you, the TRINITY Community. It is through your passion, your fantastic images, and your valuable feedback that this success has been made possible.

A heartfelt thank you to all of you.

TRINITY is the first hybrid camera stabilizer that combines classic mechanical stabilization with advanced active electronic stabilization, provided via 32-bit ARM-based gimbal technology. This combination results in five axes of control and enables uniquely fluid, wide-ranging, and precisely controlled movements for unrestricted shooting and total creative freedom.

New angles for the operator and new storytelling options for the director and cinematographer are possible with TRINITY. By inverting the post, the camera can be moved from low mode to high mode during a shot; using the joystick-controlled, fully stabilized tilt axis to look up or down during this motion is also possible, so a low angle can smoothly transition into an over-the-shoulder shot. By holding the post at 45 degrees and twisting it left or right, the camera can even look around corners, whether in low or high mode. Additional stabilization in the roll axis permits the use of telephoto lenses. Extraordinary new shots, angles, and movements are achievable when TRINITY is used in its fully stabilized mode. For situations that call for a more traditional operating style, TRINITY can be switched into a locked mode in which the tilt axis is connected directly to the post in the traditional manner.

The ARRI TRINITY 2 is offered exclusively through the ARRI distribution network.

Scientific and Engineering Award 2025

The Academy honored Dr. Roman Foltyn, Co-Managing Director and Chief Engineer of FoMaSystems, for the software and hardware design of the motorized stabilized head of ARRI TRINITY 2.

It’s an honor to be recognized by the Academy. TRINITY is the result of years of engineering, collaboration, and feedback from the field.

How it all began

In 2014, Curt approached me with a vision for a new generation of body-mounted camera support systems that had additional stabilization axes similar to MAXIMA. I saw the potential and joined the project.

We integrated my handheld gimbal, MAXIMA, into his ARTEMIS rig – that was the starting point for TRINITY.

MAXIMA meets ARTEMIS

The key was placing the camera in a weight-neutral ring. All components rotate around a shared center of gravity, making even extreme angles stable and precise.

This unique design enabled effortless maneuvering — and laid the foundation for the TRINITY platform.

Patented & Evolved

In 2020, we secured the patent for TRINITY. Our updated electronics use advanced sensors and multi-core processors, unlocking entirely new possibilities.

Improved signal processing algorithms brought stability and dynamics to a new level.

Intuitive & Powerful

We developed a modern user interface with a unified menu structure, built for professionals. Quick to configure, powerful in the field.

Our software allows precise control via digital wheels, joystick, or pan bar – and even pre-programmed camera moves.

What makes TRINITY 2 special

TRINITY 2 is built on 30 years of experience, but completely re-engineered for the future of filmmaking.

We’ve pushed the boundaries – in hardware, software, and creative control. And we’re not done yet.

ARRI TRINITY 2 Pan Axis Module

With a Pan Axis Module attached, the ARRI TRINITY 2 camera stabilizer converts into a compact and powerful three-axis stabilized remote head, allowing TRINITY 2 operators to expand the skills and chargeable services they can offer on set. By augmenting the powerful tilt and roll motors of the TRINTY 2 head with a similarly powerful pan axis, the new module permits TRINITY 2 to be used in situations that would normally be reserved for standalone remote heads or three-axis gimbals.

The TRINITY 2 Pan Axis allows Pan rotations up to 720°, in addition to multiple roll rotations and 170° of tilt range. Weighing only 3.5 kg / 7.7 lb., the compact Pan Axis Module turns TRINITY 2 into a three-axis stabilized head that is smaller than most others, making it a great solution for space-constrained setups such as inside a car or mounted to a motorcycle.

ARRI TRINITY 2 Pan Axis Module

The modular pan axis design has the same shape as the TRINITY head, enabling easy mounting. Switching between body-mounted operation of the stabilizer and hard-mounted remote head mode with the Pan Axis Module is simple and can be achieved on set in under five minutes, which allows for spontaneous creative decisions without affecting the shooting schedule. Camera builds can be left in the TRINITY 2 head when making these changeovers, so no time needs to be spent rebalancing the rig.

When used as a three-axis remote head, the TRINITY 2 has a formidable 25 kg / 55 lb. payload capacity. Camera and lens combinations that are physically long are easily accommodated due to the concentric ring design, allowing for simple builds, often without counterweights. All features of the TRINITY 2 head, such as flexible connectivity, Camera Stabilizer System (CSS) accessory compatibility, mounting points, and tilt lock are retained.
