At FoMa Systems Germany, innovation supports creative work in a wide range of environments. In a recent project, the FoMa Antares remote head was installed on a low-carbon Air Creation trike aircraft for the production of Des Racines et des Ailes.

This setup was used to capture stabilized footage of the volcanic landscapes of the Auvergne and the mountain regions of Cantal in France. The combination of the remote head and the lightweight aircraft provided a practical and efficient solution for filming these expansive locations.

Silent Flight – Aerial Filming in Harmony with Nature

The quiet electric-assisted trike platform, combined with the FoMa Antares remote head, produces very little noise. This reduced acoustic footprint made it possible to record the following bird footage from the air without causing disturbance.

Thanks to the minimal sound level, the aircraft could remain close enough to capture stable, detailed shots while the birds continued their natural behavior. For nature and documentary productions, this provides a respectful and unobtrusive way to film wildlife in its environment.

Technical Setup & On-board Workflow

  • Aircraft: Air Création trike (two-seater: pilot in front, operator in rear)
  • Pilot: Jason Barrault (pilot ULM since 2005, co-founder/CEO of NoGravity Films)
  • DOP: Romain Vesin
  • Production company: NoGravity Films: specialised in aerial filming via ultralight aircraft and drones, based in France.
  • Camera setup: Sony Burano + Fujinon Duvo 24-300mm lens + FoMa Antares remote head
  • Flight conditions: flying approx. 110 km/h, filming at 300mm focal length, above dramatic terrain (Puy Mary, Cantal).
  • Stabilisation: The FoMa Antares delivers excellent camera stabilisation under these dynamic conditions. However, even with its advanced technology, the footage still requires post-production stabilization to smooth out remaining motion. Even the best aerial head cannot guarantee fully “lock-down” footage when filming through turbulence or at high zooms, so finishing work in post remains essential.
